Listing Data & Sources Notice
Last updated October 2026. Please also read our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
1. About this notice
This notice explains where the listings shown on First Dials (the Service) come from, how dealers can opt out or request corrections, and how we treat the intellectual property of dealers, watch brands and other rights holders. It sits alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
2. Where our listing data comes from
The Service indexes the publicly available pages of Australian pre-owned watch dealer websites, in much the same way a search engine does, and supplements that with data supplied directly by dealers who have connected a feed to the Service.
Indexing is limited to publicly accessible pages. We do not access areas behind logins, paywalls or other technical access controls, we do not circumvent technical protection measures, and our systems honour robots.txt and equivalent crawler directives.
We collect only the information a buyer needs to identify and evaluate a watch — brand, model, reference, price, stated condition, photographs and the dealer's own listing page — and we link the buyer back to the dealer to transact.
3. Opt-out — dealers are not required to opt in
We do not require a dealer's prior opt-in before indexing that dealer's publicly available listings. We operate on an opt-out basis: any dealer may withdraw from the Service at any time, for any reason, free of charge and without needing to give a reason.
To opt out, email support@watchgaugehq.com with the subject line “Dealer opt-out” from an email address associated with the dealership, identifying the dealership name and website. We will remove the dealer's listings and cease indexing the dealer's website within two (2) business days of receiving a clear request.
Opting out is permanent unless the dealer later asks to be re-indexed, and it does not affect any other relationship the dealer may have with us. A dealer may also opt out partially — for example, requesting that photographs not be reproduced while a text listing with attribution and a link remains.
4. Attribution and click-through
Every listing on the Service is attributed to the selling dealer and links directly to the dealer's own listing page on the dealer's own website. We are not the seller, agent, broker or auctioneer of any watch, we do not take possession of any watch, and we are not a party to any transaction. All enquiries, negotiations and purchases occur directly between the buyer and the dealer on the dealer's own terms.
5. Intellectual property
Listing descriptions, specifications and photographs remain the property of the relevant dealer or their licensors. They are reproduced for the limited purpose of identifying the watch offered for sale and directing prospective buyers to the dealer. We claim no ownership of dealer content.
Watch brand names, model names, reference numbers and trade marks (including, by way of example only, Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Cartier and Tudor) are the property of their respective owners and are used descriptively only, to identify genuine pre-owned watches offered by dealers. First Dials is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any watch brand.
If you are a dealer or other rights holder and believe any content on the Service infringes your rights, please contact us using the process in section 7 and we will act promptly.
6. Accuracy and currency of listings
Listings, prices, specifications, condition descriptions, photographs and availability originate with the dealer and may change, be sold or be withdrawn at any time without notice to us. There can be a delay between a change on a dealer's website and that change being reflected on the Service.
The dealer's own website and direct confirmation from the dealer are authoritative in all cases. Always verify price, condition, authenticity, provenance, box and papers, warranty, availability and total cost directly with the dealer before transacting.
Value scores, market values and discount indicators shown on the Service are our opinion only — estimates generated algorithmically from third-party market data — and are not valuations, appraisals or advice of any kind. It is unreasonable to rely on them when buying or selling a watch; see clause 6 of our Terms & Conditions.
7. Corrections and removal requests
Dealers and rights holders may request the correction or removal of any listing at any time. Email support@watchgaugehq.com with: (a) the URL of the listing on the Service; (b) what is inaccurate or why it should be removed; and (c) sufficient information for us to confirm you are associated with the dealership or hold the relevant rights.
We will action verified correction and removal requests within two (2) business days. Where a request raises an urgent legal concern, please mark the email “Urgent” and it will be prioritised.
8. No endorsement
The presence of a dealer or a listing on the Service is not an endorsement, recommendation or verification of that dealer, their stock, their business practices or their licensing status, except where we expressly state that a specific licence number has been verified against a state secondhand dealer register — and even then, buyers should confirm current licence status themselves with the relevant state register.
Buyers should carry out their own due diligence on both the watch and the dealer before transacting, as they would when responding to any advertisement.
